At a time when the
Doomsday approaches, lightnings will multiply so much
that people will ask (one another): “To whom the lightning
hit yesterday?” They will reply: “The lightning hit
this and that yesterday.” (al-Hakim, Mustadrak, 4/444)
Earthquakes will
destroy your homes, lightnings will burn your herds,
turning them into coals. (Nu'aym ibn Hammad; Gelecegin
Tarihi 4 (The History of Future 4), p. 69)
In the hadiths, the increase in lightnings is related to
be a sign of the Doomsday. Just as related in the hadith,
loss of possessions and increase in deaths due to lightnings
have become very frequent events in recent years. These
losses mostly appear in news. In 1998, the death of 11 players
because of a lightning that hit a football field in Congo
is an example. Similarly in 2001, a lightning that hit a
football field in Mexico killed 6 people. Aside from these,
lightnings cause the death of many people and animals.
