Drought
 

Before the appearance of Antichrist, the heavens withholds its rain for three years. During the first year, it holds one third of its rain and pours down two thirds of it. The earth does not grow one third of its crops. The second year, the heavens hold two third of its rains and the earth does not give two third of its crops. The third year, the heavens seizes all of its rain while the earth gives none of its crops. (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Tabarani; The History of Future 3, p.241)

  

As the hadith reveals, the drought of the earth is one of the events that will appear before Antichrist’s appearance. Indeed, the threat of drought, a consequence of global warming today, influences many parts of our world. A UN report issued in the year 2001 states the seriousness of the situation:

“The Century of Hunger Knocks The Door”

In the 21st century, climate changes resulting from global warming will bring hunger.
The detrimental dimensions of global warming, may be the greatest yet unrecognized threat to humanity, will escalate in the 21st century. According to the recent UN report, scientists predict global warming will make the 21st century also an “age of hunger” and warned that these changes will make diminishing of crops in Asia unavoidable…

Again according to the report, global warming result in diminishing amounts of rain and crops, desertification and flash floods. The scientists also warned that small islands and countries will suffer seriously from the consequences of global warming. 1
